The Special Investigation Team (SIT) which is investigating the case of slain gangster Nayeem said that case should be expedited and initiate action against the 25 cops in connection with the case. "From the rank of additional superintendent of police to Head constable were involved in Nayeem case and so far no action has been taken against these officers," said SIT initiating against two additional superintendents of police, M. Srinivasa Rao and M. Chandrashekar, seven deputy superintendents of police — Ch Srinivas, M. Srinivasa Rao, T. Sai Manohar, G. Prakash Rao, D. Venkata Narsaiah, J. Amerender Reddy, and Thirupathanna, 14 police inspectors — Masthan, B. Rajgopal, G. Venkataiah, Srinivasa Naidu, B. Kishen, S. Srinivasa Rao, K. Venkat Reddy, Md. Majid, Venkata Surya Prakash, Ravikiran Reddy, Balwanthaiah, Narender Goud, E. Ravinder, and K.R. Dinesh Anand, and two head constables, B. Balaiah and Mohd Sadath Miya.

The SIT also stated that around eight politicians are directly involved in 139 cases and no progress in cases booked against them may be there are the ruling party now. Responding to an RTI query from Forum for Good Governance secretary M Padmanabha Reddy, SIT said that the names of eight politicians include former MLA R Krishnaiah. "Around 250 cases were registered including old cases were reopened out of which 29 cases were charged and are pending trial in various courts. Charge-sheets were also filed in 107 cases in different courts and another eight cases in which investigation was completed charge-sheet will be filed," said SIT adding that 10 cases were deleted from the limits of SIT based on the merits.
