Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has decided to construct the Constitutional Club of Hyderabad in Adarshn-agar. It will be on the lines of Delhi’s Cons-titutional Club of India.

The Delhi club respon-ded positively to the request of Mr Rao to accord affiliation to the proposed club at Hyderabad.

The Constitution Club of India was opened in February 1947 with the objectives and purposes of fostering social contacts and providing usual amenities of club life for the benefit of members of the Indian Constituent Assembly.

After Independence, the club became a platform for exhibitions, vital meetings, events, press conferences, elite parties and social hangouts for MPs.

Mr Rao during the Assembly Business Ad-visory Committee meeting said the managing committee of the Constitutional Club of India has in principle agreed to grant affiliation to the Hyderabad club.

He said the club building would come up on 11 acres in the New MLA quarters. He asked TRS MLAs to make a representation to Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy to allow the MLA Quarters land to be used for the club. The premises will be empty after the MLAs shift to their new accommodation  at Hyderguda.

Mr Rao said that present and past ministers, legislators and Legis-lative Council members, Speakers, chief secretarys, DGPs and Assembly secretaries will be members.
