Interestingly, a report in Mumbai Mirror suggests that Karan Johar offered Vijay a whopping Rs 40 crore to feature in the Hindi remake of Dear Comrade, but the actor has refused the proposal. In his earlier interviews, Vijay Deverakonda had made it clear that he is not keen to feature in the Hindi remake of his Telugu films and tell the same story twice. The actor was also offered to take the lead in Kabir Singh, the remake of his hit Telugu drama Arjun Reddy, but VD had turned down that offer too.
Spilling the beans on his Bollywood debut the actor had told Film Companion, “Doing Hindi (films) is interesting but I want to do something that is Telugu and Hindi. Something that works back home and here. I can't see myself shifting here at an apartment as my friends are back home. I love the laid back, lazy lifestyle. I can't work with 5 guys every day photographing me. It serves the purpose, but I don't think I would like it every day and I think Mumbai is too fast for me. I like to do things on my own terms."
