Secret Behind Jakkanna Name For Rajamouli


Maverick filmmaker SS Rajamouli has carved a niche for himself across the globe. His Baahubali franchise enjoyed a cult status in the history of Indian cinema. Now, everyone's focus has shifted to his next big venture, RRR starring Jr NTR and Ram Charan. The director is currently occupied with the magnum opus.

An interesting fact about Rajamouli is that he is lovingly called as Jakkanna in the film circles. While no one really knows how he acquired the name, many believe that Jr NTR had carved out the name for Rajamouli.

However, it is not true. The scoop behind the name was recently shared by actor Rajeev Kanakala, who spoke to media scribes and revealed the secret behind the origin of Jakkanna.

Rajeev Kanakala shared that while he initially worked with the director on a TV serial, Shanti Nivasam, Rajamouli shot his scenes till midnight 12 and 1 AM. During the time, he thought that Rajamouli is taking scenes like sculpture Jakkanna which led to many close to the director calling him as Jakkanna. So, that's the real reason behind Rajamouli being called Jakkana.

The actor further said that the way Rajamouli created his role in Shanti Nivasam got him good name and fame.

Meanwhile, Rajeev Kanakala is garnering accolades for his performance in Mahesh Babu’s Maharshi where he played a role with negative shades.
