Italian marquee Lamborghini, in honour of Ferdinand K. Piech; has christened its first-ever hybrid super sports car as the Sian FKP 37. Unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Auto Show, the model has been renamed as the Sian FKP 37 in recognition of Ferdinand Karl Piech, who was born in 1937. Piech played a significant role in the acquisition of Automobili Lamborghini in 1998 by Audi AG, owned by Volkswagen Group of which he was chairman of the executive board from 1993 to 2002.

Coming to the model, the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 is the first hybrid supercar from the Italian brand. Powering the model is a 6.5-litre NA V12 engine paired to a 48V mild-hybrid powertrain. The combined power output stands at 807bhp, enabling the vehicle to sprint from 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds. The top speed is said to be north of the 350kmph mark.
Only 63 units of the Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 will be produced globally and all units have already been accounted for. Each unit of the Sian FKP 37 will set its owner back USD 3.6 million. Each unit of the model will be unique, with the input of the brand’s ‘Ad Personam’ personalization division.

Speaking on the occasion, Stefano Domenicali, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Automobili Lamborghini, said, “Prof. Dr. Piech innately understood the attraction and potential of the Lamborghini brand and how it could fit within the Volkswagen Group, whilst retaining its unique Italian super sports car identity and design and engineering DNA. Prof. Dr. Piech was an engineer and an innovator, particularly appreciating the appeal of the iconic Lamborghini V12 powertrain on which today, the Sian FKP 37 combines pioneering hybrid technologies. The Lamborghini Sian FKP 37 provides fitting recognition of the role Piech, and the Volkswagen Group played in facilitating our flourishing brand today, as well as heralding Lamborghini’s innovative route to the future.”
